Culinary Eye Catering & Events
“It started with a love of food, art, and the belief that a shared meal could be something more.”
I started producing events in 2010. Not because I wanted to run a restaurant—I never did—but because I wanted to build something that a restaurant, by its nature, couldn't be: a team that shows up wherever the moment calls for it and builds something completely unique to that room, that guest list, that occasion. A kitchen has walls. A great event shouldn't.
My background is in kitchens and, just as much, in interactive art and psychology. That combination shapes everything we do at Culinary Eye Catering & Events. Food is the medium, but the goal has always been the experience—how a guest feels the moment they walk in, what they remember a year later, the small design choices that make a corporate lunch feel considered instead of forgettable, or a wedding feel like it could only belong to the two people getting married.
That's why we call ourselves caterers and mean something bigger by it. We don't believe in boring, fixed menus. We don't believe in underwhelming formats just because "that's how it's done." We believe customer service and creativity aren't separate disciplines—they're the same discipline, and when you combine them, you get something that's not just exceptional, but genuinely, uniquely yours.
We built a team to match that ambition.
Culinary Eye is the flagship brand of Always Fishing Hospitality Group, a full-service hospitality operator based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our team is intentionally not one-dimensional—chefs, designers, logistics minds, former wedding planners, artists, athletes, psychology majors. That range is on purpose. Every event we produce draws on more than culinary skill; it draws on how people actually experience a room, a flow, a night.
Over the years, that's grown Culinary Eye into full-production catering—high-touch, high-design event execution from Napa to San Jose—alongside our sister brands under the Always Fishing umbrella: Spirited Beverage Co. for experience-forward bar programs, Bar Car for our vintage Airstream bar experiences, and Metal and Match Catering Co. for coastal California cuisine at scale. Together, we don't just cater the food. We own the workflow—planning, production, staffing, beverage, logistics, and onsite leadership—so our clients get one accountable team instead of a handful of disconnected vendors hoping it all comes together on the day.
You can find us behind the bar every day, too—Spirited Beverage Co. runs two permanent bars inside Saluhall, San Francisco's Nordic-inspired food hall. It's a daily reminder that the same team building your one-night event is out there pouring drinks and running service, night after night, for the public.
Our culture, in one image: if we were walking into a room together, we'd be the ones holding the door open. We believe life's fondest memories are built on more than good company—they're built on excellent food, incredible beverages, a memorable setting, and service so seamless it disappears into the background of a great night. Every person on our team is expected to bring their own point of view to that work. That's what keeps it from ever feeling templated.
We're still guided by the same idea that started this in 2010: allow us to help you create your next moment.
From there, Culinary Eye can have some fun with the details. We might finish a dish in front of guests, bring back a nostalgic favorite in a new form, or create an interactive station that draws people in. These touches give guests something to discover, share, and talk about.

Our PhilosophyCatering is the medium. The experience is the point.
At Culinary Eye, we don't think of a menu as the product—we think of it as a tool. A really good caterer can hand you a beautiful plate. A great one asks a different question first: what do you want your guests to feel when they walk into this room? The menu, the format, the pacing, the pour—all of it gets built backward from that answer.
That's the core of our philosophy, and it shapes three commitments we hold on every single event, from an intimate dinner to a multi-day conference for thousands.
Seasonal and local, because it tastes like somewhere.
Our approach to Bay Area farm-to-table catering starts with what Northern California is actually growing. The region hands us one of the longest growing seasons in the country, and we treat that as an obligation, not a marketing point. Our menus are built around what's available right now—Brentwood peas in spring, Jimmy Nardello peppers and stone fruit in late summer, heirloom squash and pomegranate through fall. A menu that could be served anywhere, any time of year, isn't a Culinary Eye menu. Ours are meant to taste like this place, in this season.
Bespoke over boring, every time.
We don't believe in fixed, one-size-fits-all catering packages, and we never have. Every menu we build is composed for the specific client, the specific venue, and the specific occasion in front of us—which is why our proposals are built from the ground up rather than pulled off a template. Customer service and creativity aren't separate departments at Culinary Eye. We think the best events happen at the intersection of the two.
Full production, not just food.
Catering, to us, has never meant "we'll drop off trays." We operate as the production team behind the event—menu design, seasonal sourcing, kitchen execution, service staffing, beverage integration, and onsite leadership, all under one roof. That's what lets us remove the gaps that usually open up between a planner, a caterer, a bar service, and a staffing agency. We align food, beverage, staffing, and logistics under one operating approach so the event runs smoothly—not just looks good on paper.
Our PhilosophyWhat that means for you.
You get a team that anticipates problems before they happen, communicates clearly at every stage, and protects the guest experience at all costs—calm, even in complexity. Whether it's an intimate wedding for eighty or a corporate summit for a thousand, the philosophy doesn't change: build the experience first, and let exceptional, seasonal food carry it.
Seasonal Catering Menu Bay Area
Menus built around what California is growing right now.
Every Culinary Eye menu starts with the same question: what's actually in season? From the first spring peas in Brentwood to the last heirloom squash of fall, our menus track the long Northern California growing calendar—which means what you're served in April won't look like what you're served in October, and that's exactly the point. Below is a sample of our current seasonal offerings, presented in two formats: fully composed plated entrées for seated dinners, and à la carte selections for custom buffets, stations, and passed courses. Every menu is fully customizable for your event, guest count, and dietary needs.
