Chef John Silva
Chef/Owner John Silva's obsession with food began at a young age. As a boy he enjoyed helping his mother in her garden in the Santa Cruz Mountains and watching his idols Julia Child and Jacques Pepin on television. By age 16 he had his first experience in a professional kitchen, working for a large, local catering outfit. He decided then that one day he would have his own catering company.
Before starting Culinary Eye in 2008, John spent five years honing his skills, cooking for various caterers and restaurants in the Bay Area, including Florio, Cottage Eatery and The Front Porch. He also spent two years helping farmers develop recipes with their products and showing farmers' market patrons how to cook with local produce. Over the past several years John has shared his passion for cooking in hands-on classes for up to 150 people.
